11 day tour in Namibia

Experience the best of Namibia on this 11-day adventure that takes you from the vibrant capital of Windhoek to the breathtaking Atlantic coast. Discover the country’s rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and thrilling wildlife encounters — from meeting the San Tribe and exploring ancient rock formations to cruising with seals and pelicans on the ocean. This journey blends relaxation, culture, and adventure, offering a true taste of Namibia’s beauty and spirit.

Day 1

Arrival in Windhoek. Spend the day relaxing and sightseeing the city. Windhoek City is one of the safest places and holds vast history and culture. Having gained independence from South Africa in 1990, it still maintains the footprints of both German and South African influence.

Day 2

After breakfast, take a drive to Naankuse for a day trip. This is an animal sanctuary that houses many endangered animals like the black rhino, leopards, and many others.

Or spend a day with the San Tribe. Namibia has 11 tribes which consist of Oshiwambo, Oshiherero, Nama, Damara, Caprivi, Kavango, Coloured, Afrikaans, Himba, German, and the San people who are the original inhabitants of Southern Africa and left a footprint of rock paintings.

These San are the only Bushmen in Windhoek who share their ancient knowledge of the traditional hunter-gatherer lifestyle. This guided tour will take you on a delightful two-hour walk, featuring a variety of stops to enrich your experience. It is designed to be easy and suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Or spend the day at Daan Viljoen, a game park outside Windhoek, with a game drive and swimming in the hot summer afternoon.

Day 3

After breakfast, take a drive down the coast, passing through Karibib—a farming town—and Usakos, where the desert starts. The drive is beautiful, enjoying Namibian scenery, a country with different landscapes and environments. One minute it’s green, the next it’s dry, patched land. A few stops along the way with a bit of stretching and a possible detour to Spitzkoppe.

The Spitzkoppe is a group of bald granite peaks or inselbergs located between Usakos and Swakopmund in the Namib Desert of Namibia. The granite is more than 120 million years old, and the highest outcrop rises about 1,728 metres above sea level. The peaks stand out dramatically from the flat surrounding plains. The highest peak is about 670 m above the floor of the desert below. A minor peak—the Little Spitzkoppe—lies nearby at an elevation of 1,557 m. After a long day, arrive at the coast in the German-themed town of Swakopmund for a relaxed evening at the accommodation.

Day 4

A lazy start to the day with breakfast, followed by a city tour enjoying the culture and historic feel left by the Germans. The buildings are a reminder of the settlers, with structures dating as far back as 1901. Swakopmund has been voted the cleanest town over the years and sits at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. There are places like the Aquarium, Snake Park, Museum, and the Kristall Galerie, which houses the largest known quartz crystal cluster on display in the world. This awe-inspiring natural wonder is estimated to be approximately 520 million years old.

Dinner at a preferred place.

Day 5

This is an adrenaline-filled day with a drive to Walvis Bay, a harbour town that connects Botswana, DRC, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to the coast. It’s a busy town for both business and tourism. Get geared up for Sandwich Harbour for some thrilling adventure, passing through the lagoon—home to a variety of birds—the salt works, and the pink lake on the way to Sandwich Harbour. After a fun-filled day passing through Pelican Point, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at your own leisure.

Day 6

Brave yourself for the day into the ocean! The Catamaran is a boat cruise where visitors can encounter seals and pelicans up close. Drinks and snacks are served on board, including fresh oysters.

Day 7

Head into the desert for some quad biking and camel rides.

Day 8

Drive to the fishing town of Henties Bay, passing through the shipwreck. A possible drive to the largest seal colony.

This marks the end of the trip, with room to include Christmas and New Year’s Day activities if desired.
